The first ever Greek Day loukoumades Eating Contest will take place this year on the Krinos Foods Main Stage before the Official Welcome Ceremony.

  • June 21st W. Broadway Sidewalk Sale “Greek Town 10am – 6pm

    • Visit the merchants along the festival perimeter and take advantage of their sales and specials. It is also a great opportunity to get your shopping done and out of the way early without the massive crowds, long line up and various festivities taking place on Sunday June 22, 2008.

    PLEASE TAKE TRANSIT OR USE YOUR BICYCLE THIS YEAR:
    As parking is tricky, please take transit or use your bicycle. We offer a complimentary Bike/ Skateboard/ Stroller Lock Up Area operated by BEST. Enter from Balaclava Street and leave your bike with the attendant on the South Side of Broadway at the BEST Tent.

    KRINOS FOODS MAIN STAGE:
    Featuring traditional folk dancing by young children, youths and adult dance groups from around the lower mainland. The stage will also host the Official Welcome Ceremony at 2pm and the Raffle Draw at 9:30pm The Krinos Foods Main Stage will feature all day entertainment and the evening concert, and is located at Trutch Street.

    CANACCORD CAPITAL MUSIC STAGE:
    Featuring live music performances and various entertainment until 6:30pm. This secondary stage is located at Carnarvon Street

    CAMBAS WINES CULINARY TENT:
    Greek Vegetarian Dishes prepared before your eyes and paired with acoustic music. The highly success cooking demonstration tent will have expanded seating availability this year and even offer hands on participation by audience members to come and learn to fold Dolmades, Spanakopites and Tyropoites. Recipe books are also handed out while quantities last. This is one of the most dynamic tents on site.

    KIDS ZONE:
    11:00am – 5:00pm (or while quantities last) As always the kids zone will feature FREE rides, FREE face painting, FREE story telling sessions, FREE balloons, FREE activities, FREE draws & FREE arts and crafts.

    This year we have expanded our activity center and have prepared a fun filled day where the kids can enjoy learning, laughing and meeting new friends.

    RAFFLE TO GREECE:
    Please remember to buy your raffle tickets this year. Funding for Greek Day and Greek Cultural Month programming, can not be made possible without the sale of raffle tickets. Greek Day is NOT A FUNDRAISER EVENT, rather it is a SHOWCASE and all revenue is used toward cultural programming and highlighting Greek Culture in Vancouver. This year please, support your community and support a festival that paved the way for making Vancouver fun again. First prize is two return tickets to Greece. Tickets are only $1.     EVENING CONCERT:
    Free Evening Concert at 6:30pm at the Krinos Foods Main Stage. Featuring the Music of “Xastouki” & “Diaspora”. Three hours of live performances with the sounds of traditional and modern Greek music.

    Transportation Info:
    Buses along West Broadway between McDonald and Blenheim will be rerouted along 10th Avenue between 5am on Sunday June 22, 2008 through to 12am on Monday June 23, 2008. Public Transit - Translink Trip Planning.

    Parking Information:
    Please remember that No Parking is enforced in and around the Greek Day Perimeter on Sunday June 22. Please do not park in a designated No Parking Area or YOU WILL BE TOWED AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. These spots are reserved for festival organizers, vip’s, sponsors and production team members. Keep in mind we do have a complimentary Bicycle/ Skate Board Lock Up Area so consider riding or using public transportation and enjoy the festival with ease rather than searching high and low for parking.
